We’ve all been there. We wake up in the morning, in a good mood and feeling wonderfully rested. Then we have a cup of coffee for breakfast. And then we get up from the table and announce to the family: “Ha, ha! I’ve just had a brilliant idea. I’m going to write a musical.” The family applauds enthusiastically, and we head into the study and cheerfully get to work.
As I said, we’ve all been there.
Of course, there are also other, very talented and disciplined people who develop a solid plan, set up a precise schedule, and then work on a musical with full focus.
Or it just happens. Like it did for us. A musical was born, admittedly, out of a postponed filming date, a half-baked idea, and certainly no discipline or anything even remotely resembling a plan.
So how did it all really start? The plan was to shoot a video with Ludwig Glaser. Ludwig Glaser is the founder of the company “F*** the Sugar.” We have a castle nearby, so we thought about shooting the video at the castle.
Because of the name Ludwig, we thought of Ludwig II of Bavaria, and so the idea was to film Ludwig Glaser dressed as a king at the castle. Ludwig II and his Neuschwanstein Castle are known all over the world.
Unfortunately, the shoot had to be postponed. But the idea was still there… King Ludwig… a castle. And quickly, the idea emerged: why couldn’t the king also sing at the castle? King Ludwig II was known for his love of theater.
Singing, a king, a castle… suddenly all the elements for a musical were in place. How about a couple in love who has to survive a night in the castle with ghosts?
And, since Ludwig Glaser’s company manufactures sugar-free products, how about the world’s first sugar-free musical?
All in all, just a series of coincidences, a bit of luck, and the willingness to bring a crazy idea to life.
But next time we’ll plan better. We promise. Well, maybe. Possibly. Depending on the situation. Oh well, it’ll probably be chaotic again next time too. And now, a short video.
